Firm Profile

Ideation Planning, LLC was formed after Abra Nusser, President & CEO, identified needs in the government sectors revolving around city/community planning, private development, feedback gathering, community engagement, and meeting facilitation.  Ideation Planning teams and collaborates with numerous planners, technical professionals, and strategic consultants to provide a well-rounded and excellent set of tools and resources for communities, groups, and companies to turn ideas into implemented realities.

 

Ideation Planning is deeply passionate about truly engaging and partnering with community members or effort participants (depending on the issue or plan at hand) to gather focused feedback and ideas, translate them into a concrete and digestible format, put them into actionable items, set a solid foundation for implementation, and then perhaps most importantly, following those ideas through to reality.  Ideation Planning covers all facets of the planning industry with current and completed commitments including:

Abra R. Nusser, AICP

President & CEO

Abra Nusser has over 15 years of experience in government and law-related fields, and over 10 years of experience in city planning. She is a certified planner with the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP).  Her planning experience covers multiple facets including, but not limited to: development review, neighborhood planning, corridor/mobility planning, small area/sector planning, comprehensive planning, historic preservation, grant writing, and community engagement.
 
During her municipal career, she managed large, complex budgets and was responsible for several areas including planning, building permitting and inspections, gas wells, and trees/urban forestry.  She has led numerous neighborhood and community planning efforts and implemented zoning ordinances, comprehensive plans, small area plans, corridor plans, overlay districts, and city policies. Abra has also led and coordinated multiple interdepartmental strategic planning sessions, process improvements, management enhancements, training sessions, and efficiency audits. 
 
She previously served as the Director of Community Development for the City of Colleyville, Texas and oversaw the City’s Building Inspections, Planning, Gas Wells, and Trees Divisions while leading the Colleyville comprehensive plan to adoption in late 2015. Prior to working with the City of Colleyville, Abra worked for the cities of Denton and McKinney, Texas in various planning roles. Abra was a lead for Denton’s comprehensive plan update, begun in 2012 and adopted in early 2015, and drafted the first language in a city comprehensive plan in the country to address gas well and pipeline impact and compatibility.
 
Abra holds a Master’s Degree in Public Affairs (MPA) and Graduate Certificates in City Planning and Local Government Management from The University of Texas at Dallas. She also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Texas State University. She is a member of the American Planning Association and has served in various American Planning Association leadership positions at the local and state levels.  She is currently Director-Elect of the Midwest Texas Section of the American Planning Association covering the following counties: Archer, Bosque, Brown, Clay, Coleman, Comanche, Cooke, Denton, Eastland, Erath, Hamilton, Hill, Hood, Jack, Johnson, Mills, Montague, Palo Pinto, Parker, Somervell, Stephens, Tarrant, Wichita, Wise, and Young.

Jaric Jones

Jaric Jones is a graduate from the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA), obtaining his Bachelor of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, studying city planning and sociology simultaneously. He continues his education to obtain a Master’s degree in City and Regional Planning at UTA. With over eight years of experience using Google SketchUp and AutoCAD, Jaric has won multiple awards for his residential drafting projects. He has extensive customer service experience and brings the skills from his interactions to Ideation Planning. 

Kelsey Poole

Kelsey Poole is studying to obtain her Master’s degree in City and Regional Planning at the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA). She is active in the planning field, serving as Past President of the Student Planning Association at UTA. She has a creative background with an eye for detail, including being skilled in online public engagement, InDesign, and Photoshop.
